
Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Strudels is a European style bakery owned and operated by the Payson family. We make our home in what was the Stony Knoll Grocery, which was operated by the Coe family since 1961. The grocery was a local gathering place for the neighbors of the Stony Knoll and Rockford communities
The Payson family refurbished the building and opened Strudels in 2006, making a long time dream come to life. We are continuing the tradition of being a gathering place for the local communities, as well as for visitors from all over, who take a break from touring the local wineries, “Mayberry” and the Blue Ridge mountains to enjoy our creations.



Statement of Purpose
Our mission is to provide premium quality baked goods with a European influence. Strudels will offer a wide selection of unique, homemade baked goods, made with fresh ingredients and beautifully presented. We will create a relaxing atmosphere where the senses of sight, smell and taste are satisfied by the delicious homemade creations Strudels has to offer.
We bake on the premises, using only top quality fresh ingredients. Our recipes are all “scratch-made”, including fillings, frostings and toppings. Our coffee is made from fresh ground beans. Strudels’ product line consists of a wide variety of baked goods designed to appeal to many different tastes. Our day-to-day selection will vary, so every trip to Strudels can be a new adventure in taste.
Strudels offers a variety of well known “American” style cakes, cookies, muffins, breads, scones, danish, pies and tarts, as well as European pastries, tortes and cakes. We also bake to order occasion cakes for birthdays, anniversaries, office parties and other celebrations, with many options of fillings and frostings from which to choose.
